You may use the following points in your message:

  • H.B. 2338 exempts antique military vehicles from the displaying license plate and provides an alternate registration insignia compatible with the vehicle’s original markings.
  • H.B. 2338 would preserve the accuracy of these vehicles’ military design and markings as well as protect the aesthetic appearance of antique military vehicles.
  • H.B. 2338 requires antique military vehicles to be at least 25 years old, manufactured for use in any country’s military forces, and maintained to accurately represent its military and design markings accurately to qualify.

Overview: SAN-Supported legislation (H.B. 2338) has been reintroduced that would allow antique military vehicles to display an alternate registration insignia as opposed to a traditional license plate. Antique vehicle plates are currently available for vehicles that are more than 25 years old and owned solely as collector’s items. The bill passed the Senate Military Committee and is now awaiting consideration in the Senate Transportation and Infrastructure Committee.
