Acquiring a Title

In Florida, to obtain a certificate of title you must, at minimum, have the following:

• Proof of identity
• Proof of ownership
• Proof of required insurance coverage. For additional information on insurance, please visit the department’s What is Insurance?
• Complete an Application for Certificate of Title With/Without Registration (HSMV form 82040).
